Purple Pin competition: the results and award ceremony

Yarki Studio invited the winner and the finalists of Purple Pin competition for a meeting, to present the prizes and give our feedback on their treatments.

As a reminder, the competition for the best treatment was announced in mid January, 2019. The contestants had to write a fun story about little purple penguin and his friends who live on a farm.
Purple Pin is an animation series for young children of 3-5 years old. And, according to our participants, the tender age of Purple Pin’s target audience was the number one difficulty for them. Having written numerous scripts in their lives, none of the writers had ever made a product for preschoolers. It was equally new to all of them.

Each treatment was evaluated by the following criteria:

  • General idea
  • Interesting moments
  • Educational aspect
  • Compliance with target audience’s format
  • Humor
  • Morals, etc.

Out of two dozens of treatments we selected four that impressed us the most, and one of them was an absolute winner. It is called “Saving the Caterpillar”. The story raises important issues of helping others, thinking outside the box and shows the miracle of dreams coming true.

Tetyana Yanko, the author of the treatment, shares her impressions:

“It was such a pleasure to write a story for this cartoon. I have to mention how inspired I got at the kick-off meeting, how much I loved the characters and the whole concept. It took me several days to develop an idea and a few more days to put it in writing”.

The winner was awarded with money prize, and all the finalists got Purple Pin souvenir cups from Yarki Studio. The awarding was followed by a fun tea party – a perfect way to celebrate the job well done.
